The Xbox Store lists the ESRB rating of Grand Theft Auto VI as “RATING PENDING LIKELY MATURE 17+”, with an age of 17.
The Ultimate Edition listing carries exactly the same entry.
Rating pending is the board's way of saying a submission has not produced a final decision yet. Likely mature is the store's expectation, not a decision.
What the listings carry today

The content the store itself describes
Where a mature expectation comes from is not a mystery: the store copy describes the game plainly enough on its own.
The listing files the game under Action & adventure.
Rockstar's own premise has Jason and Lucia caught out when an easy score goes wrong, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.
The store's Ultimate Edition copy names raiding a gang compound to escape with contraband, and engraved sidearms for Jason and Lucia.
Wikipedia files the game under the same genre: action-adventure.
Why this matters before launch
The game launches on November 19, 2026, on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S — and a store page can carry a pending entry right up to the point a board publishes.
For anyone buying this as a gift, the practical read is the one the store shows: treat it as a mature title, and check the listing again nearer the date.
