Macca the Gator in GTA 6: the in-world TV show Rockstar built a collectible around
Rockstar Games describes Macca the Gator as Leonida's hit TV show, and built its premium Grand Theft Auto VI Collector's Box around it.
Last updated
On the Rockstar Games Store listing for the Grand Theft Auto VI collector's set, the box is described as a premium Collector's Box featuring all the essentials for a good time, inspired by Leonida's hit TV show, Macca the Gator.
One clause in a product description is doing a lot of work there, and it is worth slowing down on. Macca the Gator is not introduced as a logo somebody drew for merchandise. He is introduced as a television programme that people inside Leonida watch, and that is a different kind of thing entirely — a piece of the state's own media, the way the series has always furnished its cities with stations, shows and channels that exist for the characters before they exist for the player.
A hit show from inside Leonida
The wording is specific in two ways: it places Macca the Gator in Leonida, and it calls the show a hit.
Both halves of that matter. The programme is sited in the state the game takes place in rather than floating free as branding, and it is framed as popular there rather than obscure. An alligator with an audience.
What the sentence does not carry is everything else. There is no host, no network, no time slot, no premise, no episode, no format — nothing about whether Macca is a puppet, a cartoon, a person in a suit or a creature the fiction treats as real. Rockstar Games has not written that down anywhere we track, so this page does not write it down either.
Where Macca turns up in the collector's box
The store's item list for the box names Macca the Gator twice: once as a figure, and again as a magnetic mirror.
- Macca the Gator Figure
- Macca the Gator Magnetic Mirror
A character who earns a sculpted figure and then shows up a second time on another object in the same box is a character the people assembling that box expected buyers to recognise on sight. That is the strongest indication available of how much weight the show is meant to carry. It is an indication drawn from a merchandise list, though, not a statement about the programme.
Chunkee the Manatee, the other name on the list
The same item list names a second animal character, on a shot glass: Chunkee the Manatee.
Whether Chunkee belongs to Macca's show, to a different one, or to no programme at all is not something the list says. The two share a box. That is the whole of the published relationship between them, and guessing at a cast would be inventing the very thing this page exists to avoid inventing.
What is still missing
Outside the collector's set and its description, the show has not been detailed. If and when stations, programmes or broadcast schedules get written up properly, this page is where that goes — and until then it stays this short on purpose.
Frequently asked questions
+Who is Macca the Gator in GTA 6?
Macca the Gator is described by Rockstar Games as Leonida's hit TV show — a television programme that exists inside the world of Grand Theft Auto VI. The premium Collector's Box is described as inspired by it.
+Is Macca the Gator a real TV show in GTA 6?
Within the fiction, that is exactly how it is described: Leonida's hit TV show. It is in-world media rather than a real-world programme, and the collector's set is built around it.
+Can you watch Macca the Gator in GTA 6?
Nothing published says so. The character appears on physical collectibles, and there is no description anywhere of the show being watchable on a television inside the game. Treat anyone claiming otherwise as guessing.
+Which Macca the Gator items are in the Vice City Collection?
The store's item list names two: a Macca the Gator Figure and a Macca the Gator Magnetic Mirror.
+Who is Chunkee the Manatee?
Chunkee the Manatee is the second named character on the box's item list, appearing on a shot glass. The listing does not say whether Chunkee is connected to Macca the Gator's show.
