GTA 6 Vice City neighborhoods: Ocean Beach, Little Cuba, Tisha-Wocka and the VC Port

Rockstar finally describes Vice City from the inside: pastel art deco hotels and white sand at Ocean Beach, the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba, the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, and the VC Port — called the cruise ship capital of the world.

Last updated

Rockstar presents Vice City under the heading “Everything in Excess”, and describes it as the glamour, hustle, and greed of America captured in a single city. Then comes the line that opens the city up: each neighborhood has something to offer, from the pastel art deco hotels and bright white sands of Ocean Beach, to the bustling panaderías of Little Cuba and the bootleg brands of the Tisha-Wocka flea market, out to the VC Port, the cruise ship capital of the world.

One sentence, four places, and each one arrives with a texture instead of just a label — a beach, a bakery street, a market of fakes, a cruise terminal. For a city that had spent its whole marketing cycle being described as a mood, this is the first time it is described as an address.

Every neighborhood named in that one sentence

NeighborhoodHow Rockstar describes it
Ocean BeachPastel art deco hotels and bright white sands.
Little CubaBustling panaderías.
Tisha-Wocka flea marketBootleg brands.
VC PortThe cruise ship capital of the world.

Read them side by side and the sentence is doing geography: sand on one end, working kitchens in the middle, counterfeit goods in the market, and the water traffic of an entire industry at the far edge. The city is being sold as a place with a rich end and a cheap end, which is the oldest Vice City joke there is.

Two more Vice City names, from a different part of the same page

  • Southside Vice City is named as the turf of “one of Southside Vice City’s loudest and most socially active gangs”, whose compound can be raided for special items and contraband.
  • Stockyard is named as the address of Stock 305, a store for styling looks for Jason and Lucia, described as the district’s premier destination for elevated streetwear.
  • Stockyard is also given an ink bar: the parlor is described as the district’s most iconic, with over 50 signature tattoos for both Jason and Lucia, all designed by the artist collective FAILE.

Whether Stockyard and Southside are neighborhoods of the city in the same sense as Ocean Beach is not spelled out anywhere. They are named as parts of Vice City, or as addresses inside it, and that is as far as the wording goes.

Why the neighborhoods matter to the story

Rockstar's premise keeps the plot larger than any one district: Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them, and when an easy score goes wrong they land in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida.

So no neighborhood here is presented as the home base. The city is a stack of textures the pair passes through, and the state is the board the story is played on.

What is still not described

The city overview page on this site tracks how Vice City is described as a whole, and the map hub keeps the state's places side by side. This page exists for the layer underneath: the pieces of the city that now have names of their own.
